When It’s Hot It’s Hot.

We have run an experiment on Etsy for the last 14 days. We tried relisting and listing new items 3 times per day. All in the hopes that we would run higher and ultimately get more sales.

Well, it worked in a sense. We got a lot more views and conversations were up. But we did not get a lot more sales.

We understand that we need to be more involved – but the web can be a very difficult place to sell. People really like to see and touch our pieces – try them on. Sales are just not as good when they cannot see them in person.

So right now it things are cold.

But we have Whiz Bang Days coming up. We will have a booth for a few days and we are hoping that things will be hot! Just like they were when we had a booth at my daughter’s dance recital. Things were crazy that day. That is what we want again.

It seems like we will be on a roll and then things just stop.

When it’s cold it’s cold. Hopefully it’s hot soon!

Keep Going and Going and Going….

We have been very busy with Cataluña Designs. We are trying to set up our partnership, get a bank account, create new pieces and target an older group.

Oh I forgot, SELL!

On top of all that our lives have been really busy. First communion, soccer, swimming, karate, scouts, dance and more!

Oh, I forgot, SCHOOL!

I don’t know if it’s the end of the year, but things are just crazier than usual. With all of this craziness we are trying to get the boost in sales again on the internet. They have been a little stagnant and we really want more.

The good thing is that we are trying to continually sell wholesale. It seem like every week we are able to contact a store or more and even get in to a few! Now we just have to keep that going and see if we can increase our online sales.

Taking Kids On Sales Calls

I have two children, one is 4 and the other is 6. As they have gotten older I have had more time during the day to get things done. They are at school, they play together, they have more friends they see, etc. etc. etc.

But the time is not all that long. Pre-school is only twice per week for a few hours. Kindergarten is 5 days – but only for a few hours. So I either have the 4 year old, or I have to be home by 11 am to meet the 6 year old. So I don’t have much time at all. Especially when the stores I need to call on do not open until 10 am!

What am I supposed to do?

I could get a sitter – but that is not always an option and I need to avoid that cost.

So…I end up bringing one or both.

I have to say that it has not hurt me at all. People seem to really understand, and if they do not then I do not want to do business with them.

Unless I REALLY have to have a detailed conversation about design or prices my children are always welcome to help me sell!

Introducing… Cataluna Designs!

Finally! After weeks of being mysterious – the new business is finally launched!

Cataluña Designs by Brooke and Angie!

My friend (Angie) and I are making unique hair pieces and jewelry for little girls. We have a web site up and a store at www.etsy.com. (www.etsy.com/shop/catalunadesigns) The whole thing is very exciting and we are having a great time. We have told all of our friends and relatives and we are headed to our first networking event on Wednesday. I just can’t believe it!

At this time orders are great – but so are referrals and honest feedback.

We have been thinking about different ways to market our site – and so far we are thinking internet. Etsy.com, Ebay, Craig’s List, Amazon, Linked In…what else? Are these good ideas? Should we do them all? Should we start a blog? Personally I am thinking networking is the best way – but we REALLY want some opinions (be nice) about this.
