Is it me? Is it something I said? Is it the Subject Matter? What is It?
I started what I thought was a pretty good writing contest, Blog vs Website. I think most of the people that read Working at Home on the Internet have an opinion one way or the other on this subject. It is, as I mentioned in the introductory post, the Top Search Term for me of people who are investigating some type of Home Business and end up landing on the Blog vs Website Series.
So, what is it?
Liz Strauss from Successful Blog has a great eBook on offer as a prize, I have two of the Top People involved in Internet Marketing and Design for Business - Chris Garrett and Dawud Miracle - as Judges and an opportunity to grab a piece of the pie from one of my biggest SEO draws from Google.
The Fourth of July Holiday?
Ok, I realize it that there is a pretty big Holiday coming up this weekend in the U.S. and people may have party plans in the making and not really thinking of my little contest.
How about if I sweeten the pot just a little?
How about my personal (hard)copy of:
Step Into The Spotlight! (’Cause All Business is Show Business) A Guide to Getting Noticed
by Tsufit
For the Runner-up?
Now, bear in mind, this is just meant as an added enticement to you, my dear readers, into taking a little time out of your busy Holiday schedule to participate in the Blog vs Website Writing Project. But, I highly recommend everyone read Step Into The Spotlight and Liz’s eBook The Secret to Writing a Successful and Outstanding Blog for those of us who are trying to Succeed in our own Home Business and become a winning Work at Homer.

@lizstrauss I’ll be there tonight for OCN.
@chrisgarrett Love that you post you did on Causality and Correlation.
@squishythefish have you tried to Skype me lately?
This is the way we seem to be doing a lot of our Networking these days. Yeah, I know you know it is the way we use Twitter to keep up with friends and business contacts on a personal level.
The new kid on the block is Plurk. Different look, same basic concept. Being social online. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can join as My Friend. (It would be nice to up my Karma so I can get more cool emoticons.)
Both are actually great tools to network and keep in contact with current clients and help build your profile online. But Both have one inherent problem.
THEY’RE ADDICTIVE!
Even when you’re not actively Twittering or Plurking, just a lurker as I am quite often, you can get sucked in. Get more friends, see what they are talking about, see what is happening on the net, see who’s blogging about what, see what the newest fad is… Keep checking, don’t want to miss the next big wave of interest.
Redeeming Qualities
They are also addictive to the people you want to communicate with daily. The people online you care about. The clients you want to touch base with on a different level. Let potential clients see how you can help them through examples of how you help others. Just plain communicate.
These two Tools are really good at helping you keep in touch for Business, but you must be cautious not to get caught up in either too deeply to the detriment of the other things you need to do to keep your business growing.

Adam over at Pixelhead Online is having a Logo Contest.

Why would I mention that here you say?
A couple of reasons
- Adam has become a Blogging Friend since we first met at BlogPhiladelphia last year
- He’s a Work at Homer, just like most of us
- It is as much about the participants as it is the contest itself
- The intent is to highlight non-professional (read up and coming) designers
- You guys submitted some great designs for My Logo when I needed it
- He’s got some pretty cool prizes (I’m one of the sponsors)
So, if you would like to participate in a pretty good project, check out the Contest Post to get the lowdown. This could be your Big Chance if you have a Logo Design just waiting for a little exposure and some link love.
The contest only runs until March 24th, so don’t dally, check it out now.
