This is one of the most difficult things that I will have to deal with IF my husband gets the promotion and we have to move . How am I going to keep my home business.
In some cases it’s really easy to do. When I moved from Colorado to Minnesota it was just me. I didn’t have a business partner, the business was online, and my overhead cost was pretty much just my computer. It was really easy to do and I didn’t have to worry about clients that we’re in Colorado – it just didn’t matter. I could be anywhere and it would be fine.
Fast forward to the present – now I have a new business and a great business partner. We make product, take pictures, and sell to the end consumer as well as a few stores. The first option is keeping everything separate. We would each have to create our own pieces, take our own pictures, upload them to the computer, and sell them two different cities. We would have two branches of Cataluña Designs. The other option is to send product back and forth and run things as we do now. But the cost of shipping would raise prices of our pieces too much. We couldn’t really ship back and forth to each other because that would just get too expensive. So I’m just not sure how that is going to work. At first I thought we could but now – I’m just not so sure.
So it will be an interesting dilemma trying to figure out whether or not we can keep this business going.
We are enjoying what we are doing now – and it’s making us some extra money. But we have to decide if it is something that we just want to do for fun or is it something we want to do for money . Option one is probably easiest. But part of our love of the business is getting together! If we do option two, can Cataluña Designs support itself if we add shipping back and forth?
Does anyone have any ideas of how to make this work?
