Let’s face it. When it comes to the field that you are working in, you are the expert. When you speak with your clients you know all. You know what they need, what they want, what they desire, and what they should do.
But do you really?
You may think that you do, but you have to remember that while you are the expert in your field – they are the expert in their field. They know what they need, and they know their clients better than you.
So you talk to them and while they are talking you nod your head “thinking” that you know the right thing to do. You are assuming. Well, we all know what assume equals. I makes an a_ _ of you and me. You actually need to really LISTEN to what they are saying and then work together to find the best solution.
Now let’s talk about your personal life for a bit. You might be married or have a significant other. You may have been together for years and feel that you really know that other person better than yourself. But be careful. Assuming can really get you into trouble. You may have a great idea of what they want – but you still cannot assume. It’s important to always talk and keep the lines of communication open.
Always communicate with your significant other and your clients and you will be a successful happy person!
