I have to say that kindergarten is going well. Gooshy is really liking it and making lots of friends. (he is a social butterfly like his mom!) He plays a lot, gets books read to him, and did I mention that he plays a lot?
So is it enough? He has been in daycare 3-4 days/week since he was 6 months. And he has been in Montessori pre-school for 2 years. He can read and write, do (very little) Spanish and has started doing math.
He is in kindergarten five days per week – only half day. And do you know that half day is only 2 ½ hours? Like THAT is half day! I can’t imagine that they can get anything done in that amount of time. I know that he should play and be free, but he should use his mind too. He should practice his reading, writing, do some math, some Spanish etc.
I don’t want to push him too hard – but I don’t want him to loose everything he has already learned. Argh – I don’t know what to do? Or maybe I should not do anything.
So I ask again…is 2 ½ hours per day enough?
