Is it time to just give up and hide my head in the sand?
Back in mid-June I wrote the “Where’d I Go Wrong?” post in which I complained about how all the numbers were dropping all around my online world. Pageviews were down. Subscribers fluctuated so much I thought I would get seasick. Customers just seemed to disappear.
Now, even the majority of advertisers are all going the way of the wind. Not canceling, just disappearing into the sunset when the current arrangement expires. Things seem to be getting worse, not better.
Boo-Hoo, Right? Things are tight for everyone. So, you don’t want to hear me cry about my problems. You have enough of your own.
But, I have a Plan… (of sorts)
I figured out that the lack of numbers on the Blogs would result in the loss of advertising.
- So, I started writing more on MCBS Consulting and this Blog. I also started the Baby Boomers Forum and Blog as a way to gain new readers for a different set of advertisers.
Customers not needing my services
- When clients have a problem, I fix it and give them ways to avoid the same or related problems in the future. They all seem to love my work and refer me to anyone they know who might need my services. However, I plan on becoming more active on different Social Media sites like Twitter and LinkdIn to expand my potential client base.
RSS subscribers fluctuate.
- The number of RSS and e-mail subscribers will always vary depending on when they actually read the posts, satisfaction with the posts and how often I post. The answer is as simple as writing more interesting and useful posts.
So, there you have it.
Problem solved? Unknown, but I can’t afford to just sit around and feel sorry for myself, it’s time to be accountable for my own (in)actions.
How about you? Do you have a contingency plan if things start going south in your business?
