A few weeks ago I was thinking of moving things back to Outlook. I have had Thunderbird for years (I love it!) and ACT! also. ACT! works great for all of my business and personal contacts, as well as the calendar and tracking the progress of clients and prospects.
Well, I recently obtained an iPhone (which is cooooool!) and that’s when the changes began. I found out that I could sync ACT! with my iPhone – which is great. So I have been going along, checking my email and having all of my contacts and calendar. What I realized was that I didn’t have my tasks. BUT I found out that you could sync your Outlook tasks. I also found out that my hubs (Captain Obvious) has Lotus notes, which will share calendars with Outlook.
So I thought – why not?! Have all of my emails, calendar, tasks and contacts in 1 program – what a thought huh?
Well all of my emails worked fine – but getting everything else in Outlook was an issue. Well – to get ACT! Info into an iPhone it HAS to go through Outlook! So Outlook was automatically populated!! Yeah!
Then I decided to get fancy – uh oh. Outlook has Business Contact Manager. So I started using that for all of my business contacts. Well I could only sync with 1 list of contacts – ewww. AND that’s when the problems really started.
So after this long drawn out story (which is boring) I will forgo telling you the gory details and just say that from time to time (meaning a few times per week) my computer is REALLY slow…I have to reboot…then I get a black screen that says hit f2=setup or f12=boot menu. Hit either and they do nothing. I have turned off my computer again, unplugged it…sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.
So Captain Obvious and I were thinking – who should we call? Do we know any computer geniuses that would know what they were dong? Hmmmm?
Do we know ANYONE???
Ha – oh yeah – My Computer Back in Service – Joe Hauckes!!! So I am contacting him right now…
I will give you an update next week.
It just goes to show you – computers are NOT discriminatory at all, WAHM or not…
