I am finally starting to balance this work at home mom thing. It has been a rough road but I am getting there.
So now I have been throwing something else in – my workouts. I workout 3-6 times per week and have been doing so for quite a while now. I can tell you that they are not necessarily at the same time every day or every week. It all depends on what is going on with the kids and with work.
But this is not working well. Trying to squeeze my workouts into strange times and different times is not good for me mentally or physically. So I put myself on a regiment and it seems to be working.
It can also be a challenge to workout with the kids. When? How long? What should they do? Argh!
So for working out when the kids are around here is what I recommend:
- Try to workout the same time every day if you can.
- Try to space them out – like Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday…something like that.
- Join a gym like Lifetime – they have the child center which I can take the kids to two hours per day. AND they LOVE it!
- If you workout to video’s then get the kids involved! Let them use your yoga mat. Give them little weights to use. They will “workout” (jump around), burn some energy, hang with you and have a great time!
- Do something like NikeWomen.com. Go to training and there you can customize your workouts. The best part is that each workout is only 3 minutes. So you can break things up.
Although it is challenging to get everything in your life to work the way that you want – you can do it. Kids definitely add a huge challenge – but it’s worthwhile and they can add a new level of fun to your workout if you let them.
