This week was more difficult than I thought it would be for me to write this article. I was on vacation and thought that something interesting would come to me for a topic. Nothing did. Until today. I had the day off with my kids – but one of them was sick. So it turned into a day of taking care of him and doing housework.
There was so much that I wanted to get done today too. Errands. Cleaning. A playdate. Go to the gym. Well that was all out the window with a sick kid.
But was it?
What I realized today was the concept of taking turns. Not just for children!
This is what we did – all day.
Read books – 15 minutes
Cleaned – 15 minutes
Read books – 15 minutes
Worked – 30 minutes
Played Games – 30 minutes
Worked out – 60 minutes
Et cetera… et cetera…
This works so well. I was very impressed with the kids and myself. If you give the kids some time – even a few minutes – they will give you a half hour easily.
I am heading into a summer of the kids being home all day. I am excited about this concept of taking turns. It just might work for us!
Who knew?
