WAHI Weekend Wrap-up XV (a comment poll)

What should I do with these Video posts? It’s up to you.

The content of the Video (mostly)

I really like doing these videos. For me they are fun to do, but sometimes I feel they could be pretty boring for you guys. Just talking about how my week went, sometimes complaining, sometimes just wandering around some of the projects I am working on.

Hell, I’m not even sure anyone is watching them. Ok I get stats on page views and such, but that doesn’t tell me if you really watch or even if you click on them. (I haven’t seen anything in the clickthrough stats).

So, what I’d like to do is take a poll (yeah, I don’t like them much either, but it is a way to find out what you want if you participate).

What I’d like to know is Firstly is if you even watch them

Secondly, is if you like them the way they are, just going over in a wrap-up form.

Third, If you would prefer that I do a different format, something like interviews (if I ever find a screen in screen program that works)

Next, if you would like some kind of tutorial, either video or screencast, on different types of setups or anything else you would like info about.

Lastly, do you think I should just stop doing them at all because they add nothing to your experience on the blog.

So, if you wouldn’t mind taking a second to take the poll and/or leave a comment with your thoughts, I will be very grateful.

This is as much your blog as it is mine, please remember that.

      Hi Joe,
If you enjoy making the videos, then you should keep it up. If they help you review, plan, relax or brainstorm, then they have value. It doesn’t matter if anyone watches.

I prefer text, but based on the popularity of YouTube, many people enjoy videos. Perhaps you could do a brief written summary of each video, or mention a couple of key points, and let people watch, or read, or do both.

      Hey Debra,
I do enjoy making them, but I want them to be worth something to the viewers (readers), that is the main reason for asking for the feedback. If they’re not worth watching, why make them?
I do include at least the outline I use to prepare for the vids, sometimes I wander from it a bit, but mostly the content is the same. ;-)

Well, it’s nice to see and hear you in a video, and it helps visitors get to know you a bit better. My attention span for video is short though, so a couple of minutes would be my limit, unless the content is rivetting.

Debra, Not riviting, probably a bit rambly, but it IS me. Mostly boring. ;-)
The reason I started the vids was to show a real face with a real person behind the blog, not just a pretty (ugly) picture. :-0
