78% Of Holiday Shoppers Can’t Be Wrong

And the Results are In!

shoppingpoll.png

This is by no means an extensive be all and end all poll, but I think it is interesting.

Only 22% of the people surveyed are doing their Holiday Shopping Exclusively Offline. While the majority are shopping both Online and Offline at 56% and an additional 22% are shopping Online Only.

The result shows a Great Majority (88%) 78% of the respondents are doing at least some of their Holiday Shopping Online this year. (Thanks to Jon for correcting my math)

Thanks to all who participated in this poll and Happy Holiday Shopping.

This is definitely an interesting poll. I’ve only been to the mall once this holiday season and I’m doing the rest of my shopping online. I just can’t stand going to the mall anymore! There is actually a really great new site called iStorez. They have all of the latest specials and deals from all of the major retailers. Here’s the site http://www.istorez.com/

      Hey Icowan,
I haven’t been to a mall in I don’t know how long. There is something to be said for shopping online.
Thanks for the link to the stores.

      Let’s see, 56% + 22%…

      You mean 78%, right?

      Hey Jon,
Now you know why I’m not an accountant! ;-)
You are right & I am wrong (I was never good at math).
      I’ll fix it later, K?

      Still a lot though

I’m not debating that it’s a lot. I’m surprised the 22% for online only is so low, though I guess running out to get candy canes at the grocery store immediately drops you into the 56% group.

Yeah Jon, I guess there is always something last minute that we have to pick up. I was thinking more of the Major purchases, like a present for the better half. ;-)

We are only getting the kids one gift this year, due to husband’s layoff, and all were ordered online, so I guess that makes me abnormal :-)

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season, Joe. Many blessings to you.

      Hey Marti,
Abby Normal, yeah I guess we saw the same movie. ;-)
I think most of us have cut back on gifts this year, but remember it’s the thought that counts, not the gift itself.
All the best to you and yours for the holidays and beyond (yeah, another movie reference). :-)

People still shop offline? How barbaric. :P

Here’s the best of both worlds:

My wife and I went online looking for a new TV. We figured out what we could afford that would fit in the current location, and compared a few electronics stores. So we had a list of prices. My wife then went to a small local electronics dealer, mentioned what we were looking for, and what could he do. He got on his computer, saw the same stores online that we had seen, found the cheapest, looked in a little book, and said he could meet their sale price.

So we got the leverage of the large store, without having to deal with the holiday mall experience. And I’m sure the local guy, who has really low overhead, did okay as well.

      Hey Lindsay,
I know, I do all my shopping online (except for pizza ). Did you see Jon’s comment? He helped out a small business owner by mixing and matching on/offline and getting the best of both worlds.
I guess there is still room for the offliners, huh?

      Hey Jon,
Nothing like getting the best you can by doing a little shopping. Not only did you get the best of both worlds, you bought from a Small Business Owner.
For that you deserve a big Thank You from the SBA! (and me)

      Joe -

I helped at least two small business owners today: the guy in the appliance shop (from whom we’ve bought most of our kitchen appliances as well) and the piano tuner who visited this morning for our piano’s annual checkup. And I shouldn’t forget the guy who plows us out when it snows (we got around 6″ of snow this afternoon/evening). Oh yeah, and my wife got fish from the fish market to cook for dinner tonight.

Small businesses rock. I run a small business myself.

      Hey Jon,
If only everybody would support the small businesses we could possibly pull out of this depression we seem to be in. ;-)
One of the jobs I had prior to computers was plowing snow with my jeep, I got all the small places the bigger guys couldn’t get. Yeah for us!

      Welcome...
