True, starting out is not easy and take loads of work, but I don’t think it has to be all consuming either. After all, don’t most of us start a business to Improve our Lot in Life?

I sort of agree with the concept of what Lindsay is saying, but anytime you break out on your own, it is going to require a lot of hard work and to be successful it will end up, at least at first, being a full time job.

Nothing is ever easy and starting your own business is no exception. To expect to start your own successful business in order to have fewer responsibilities and frustrations is in many ways naive.

I agree, if you work for yourself, don’t turn it into a “JOB”. Why bother with all the responsibilities unless you really get something worthwhile for your efforts?

“Do you live life for your small business, or do you have a small business to support the lifestyle you want for you and your family?” Good link to a thoughtful article. As Michael Gerber (from E-myth fame) says, it’s important to work *on* the business, not *in* the business.

If all you’re doing in going into business for yourself is creating a new full-time job for yourself, then you might as well keep working for a boss (and have fewer responsibilities and frustrations!).
