Hey Lindsay, Hey JT,
Yeah, I have had the carnival for a while and have questioned whether it is worth all the effort to run them. It may be time to stop them if they are really hurting the blog overall with SEO & RSS.
I think it might be time to get a co-writer JT, ya never know.
Time to rethink the reality of what I am doing on WAHI, huh?
Thanks for the input.

I know you were good with content, but it was just that the last few entries I saw were just links. There's nothing wrong with link entries, but content should take place over a bunch of links. But yeah, I empathize, when I was in my first year of grad school, I had absolutely NO time for blogging, so I had to say goodbye to the Blogosphere until May, and I suffered for it. (Still am, really.)

But I don't like doing all links because people will just use your site as a hub for those sites, subscribe to those feeds, and more then likely forget all about you.

If worse comes to worse, you could always get another blogger to co-write this one. Thanks for looking at my site, though.

I've never run or participated in blog carnivals, so anything I have to say will just be guessing, but I suppose it is possible that too many outgoing links could get you lumped in with directories on search engine eyes (directories seem to be getting devalued these days). However, I have a shopping blog and I link out on just about every blog post (to the store owner and sometimes also to the original source if I got the idea online), and I've experienced no drops in traffic over the years.

The work-at-home niches is kind of a tough one in and of itself, and there's a lot of competition out there, so part may just be an increase in the number of sites SEOing the heck out of the area. Also, you may be taking a hit if some of the sites you've linked to in those carnivals have been penalized as spam sites for their own excessive linking/seo practices.

But, yes, overall you can't go wrong with creating content that has great value for your readers. Here's hoping you can get the search engine love back. :)
