Are Spammers Beating the e-mail Filters?

I haven’t figured this one out yet.

The Picture and Captions are for Viagra and all such JUNK. You probably won’t see them, but just in case, it’s only pics of the pills and the offer of 89% off whatever price happens to be current.

The point is that SPAMMERS seem to be getting really, really devious. Not that they weren’t before, but NOW they are sending Spam to me using MY address as a return address. Blocking it will only Block Me. I subscribe to the Newsletter in question so if I Unsubscribe  (they do include a link) I WILL NOT get the newsletter I subscribed to in the first place.

Whatever I do, other than just delete it, I lose.

The SPAMMERS WON THIS ONE until I figure out where it’s coming from and BLOCK the IP address.

Just wanted to give you a heads up on the newest way the SPAMMERS are trying to beat the Filters.

    1. No kidding. And if all the people who promised me all this money would just come through, I could retire now. I switched to Gmail this last week and it seems to be catching a lot of this crap which was getting through Spamsieve. I am happy about that.

    2. Hey Grant,
Problem it’s From Me To Me. NO filter, no matter how good will catch that.

    4. We offer domain email forwarding for our full service clients and you would be shocked with the amount of spam we filter on a daily basis. We mask all e-mail addresses in our coding but it never seems to stop spammers. Best advice I can give is that you should use SpamAssassin and try to filter out the junk. We’ve had the best results with this program.

    5. Hey Full (it would be much easier if I knew your name, I think it’s D Cooper?),I do use Akismet, PC Tools and the Live Mail filters and they still seem to find a way around them. It’s a never ending story, the Good Guys against the Spammers.Oh, well, we just have to keep trying to Win.

    7. Bingo, David is the name. I used a Google alert set to “email scrapers” orginally to find posts about programs that were grifting email addresses, then I read the offending sites and did some research on which programs were causing issues with it. Turns out spam assassin was one of them and I was in luck because cPanel 11 had it as an option I could use. I have recently come across a new program that auto fills out a php form that I have on my main site with useless links…which amazes me because they are never actually posted anywhere, it is an automailer with information we use before a payment page, but oh well.

    8. Hey David,
I have used their alerts for MY keywords and found a lot of scrapers that way, but never thought about doing what you did. I am probably one of the few who doesn’t use SpamAssin along with Akismet. Maybe I should start.
I need something like what you are using for the automailer before a payment page, I just started a Job Board here and get mostly Junk. Fortunately they don’t want to Pay for the Priviledge of Spamming the JB so they just fade away.
I would love to be able to filter them out before I even get a notice they applied.
If you have any links you can share with us, I personally will be most grateful.

    9. Visit my site for an example of the automailer, go to link building services, then goto directory submission, choose one, and you will see the form I have there, it automails to me, but then goes no where else. Then it re-directs to the payment page. If you need some specific coding let me know, I can set it up pretty easy and send some links.

    10. Thanks, Unfortunately I don’t really have the time tonight but I will check it out over the weekend. I have no doubt I can use somthing like that.
I appreciate your idea and will let you know ASAP.
And I know a couple of my clients could use something like that too.
      Thanks
