Why do they say Please Review when you don’t have a choice? You get Three Options for now… until May 25th

  • I Agree
  • Remind Me Later
  • Disagree (cannot use AdSense)

After May 25th you either accept their dictates or you can’t use AdSense on your Site(s) even if you have been with the program for years.

And now for the Bad News…

You have to have a privacy policy that fits “THEIR” program and include a user option for cookie management? How do you do that? I don’t know, but I’ll have to find out if I want to use AdSense on any of my sites. And so will you.

I am really beginning to think that Google wants to OWN the Internet.

Google is the Largest Search Engine

They want you to use the Google Toolbar so they can track your Internet usage (supposedly to enhance your experience)

They dictate how we can and can’t be indexed for SEO (don’t kid yourself, the other SE’s follow their lead)

It USED to be Ok to have other Advertising on your site as long as it wasn’t contextual, until they decided that ANY text ads were bad.

Google fell Out of Love with non-US publishers although they may (or may not) be reconsidering that decision.

They said that Page Rank was your Authority on a Subject. They changed that to your authority as they see fit as long as you play by their rules.

Now this.

What’s next? You won’t be able to have your own Blog unless it fits the Blogger mold? You can’t have anything indexed unless you belong to Google Services? If you ask nicely on bended knee, the Great and Powerful Google will grant your wish?

All Hail the Googlement! Hail Caesar! Heil Hitler!

Glad I got that out, but I think it will get a lot worse trying to work on the internet before it gets better.

If you want an easy to understand overview of all the Changes to the AdSense TOS you should read JenSense’s post on all the changes. She is a lot nicer than I about this whole thing.
