The Results of One Comment in Problem Solving

 The other day I made a Promise to the Blogging Community about participating more on other Blogs. Since then I have made a concerted effort to do just that by commenting when I feel I can add something to the conversation.

Well, last night I did participate in Liz’s Open Mic Night about Pets. It was fun as usual, but I went a little off topic for one comment asking if anyone knew of a WordPress Plugin that would show excerpts of recent posts that I could use on my Business Blog.

HART, the guy who has an uncanny ability to find just about anything on the web, came to the rescue. Of course, since it was a little (Ok, a lot) off the subject being discussed, he sent me an eMail with a link to something that he had come across, SimplePie Plugin for WordPress. Since HART has never steered me wrong before, I thought I should at least try it out to see if it would do what I needed.

Lo, and Behold… It worked. It’s a little frustrating to get through the download(s), but once I did, it works like a charm.

The moral of this little story is that it pays to be an active part of the community. The dividends of participating in a bit of conversation with others in the Blogging Community increase exponentially with just a few words.
