Today’s The Day-Introducing My Computer Back in Service

Good Morning to All. It’s a Great Day! verysmallslogo.PNG

Today is the Launch of My Computer Back in Service.

I decided to do things a little differently. I have utilized the “Static” landing page feature of WordPress. The Blog is set up as a separate page, although it will Act like a Blog, it is actually a page link. It seems to be the “new” thing, so I thought I would see how it works for a while.

I also put a list of the most recent Blog posts at the top of the sidebar as a preview of the current content and for better navigation from the landing page.

Oh, just in case you are new around here, I specialize in helping people set up home, home office or small business computers and software, and keep everything running smoothly. Hence the new Blog.

Stop on by, take a look around and let me know what you think. http://mcbsconsulting.com

I like the static front page look for business blog sites. When I started blogging, I was amazed at the number of people who had no idea what blogging was. The front page of the blog site was a tad off putting. So, I had a regular website with a link to the blog. That presented a lack of consistency problem. Building the whole thing using the blog platform proved to be a happy arrangement.

I think you have done a great job!

      Hey April,
Thanks, I think the static page is just what the doctor ordered.
I, too had the same problem with using a webpage and pointing to this blog. That’s why I keep the Working at Home on the Internet Webpage around, even though it gets hits on it’s own, not much traffic ends up on the Blog from there, or vice versa.

It looks good, Joe! I like the way you separated your resume from what you can do for me.

I’ve used Wordpress for all three of my sites. The software site is all static pages. The theatre is mostly pages, but it has a normal front page that only shows two categories, news and what’s showing. The blog is set up like a normal blog. One of these days I may get around to setting up a blog on the software site. If so, it will go to a static front page. It’s good that you set it up that way from the beginning.

      Hey Rick,
Actually, I was just looking at all my pages. 3 Websites 4 Blogs and there were some things I liked about each, but none are the way I really wanted them. Each was an experiment.
I figured with that much behind me, I just may (hopefully) get it right this time. ;-)
I hope the static landing page works the way I anticipate. If so, then all will be good. :-)
