We’re in the Final Countdown for SOBCon 07.
Some things have changed a little since I originally registered to participate in this One of a Kind Conference. Originally, we were planning a Social Event Pre-Conference Train Trip to Chicago, but plans seemed to fall apart as people started changing their minds about taking 5 days for a 2 day event. Hence, NO TRAIN TRIP.
However, I have such a Strong Desire to go to SOBCon that I am willing to risk Flying. (Did I ever mention that I hate flying?) I have flown a bit in one of my former jobs and know what to expect, but I still don’t like it.
This past week I heard of 2 different Plane Crashes (NO SURVIVORS) which is to say the least a little unsettling. THEN, the weather forcast for Philly on Friday (that’s when I leave) is for THUNDERSTORMS…
Even with All That, I am bound and determined to make it to Chicago to meet everyone I have come to know so well online.
So, I will be Flying in on US Airways on Friday and will arrive in Chicago (ORD) at 9:12am. I was a little late in booking a Hotel, but I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel by the Airport. The room I booked has 2 Double Beds and only poor little ole me. So, if you haven’t set up a room yet, let me know (you can use the phone# in the Hire me page). I’m sure there will be an extra charge, but it shouldn’t be full price.
There you have it, I’m Going and That is That.
Hope to see you there, I know it will be a Great Time.

Joe, you’re as strong as your desire. I’m glad you were able to make arrangements at the last minute and you know I’d have loved the train and the entire trip if I thought I could do it. Don’t fill your mind with bad plane stories; your flight will be fine. By the way, is Friday’s carnival covered, or do you still need someone?
Hey Carolyn,
)
I wish you were going, it would make it all the better.
Flying is just not my thing, I can do it, but I doubt I’ll ever like it.
Thanks for the offer for the Carnival, I decided to just prepost it on Thursday night and set it for early Friday (probably for the exact time the plane is supposed to leave.
I wish I was going too, Joe. Things being what they are, it’s not in the cards for this year. But I’ll be occupying myself with a couple of virtual conferences at T&P on Friday. These are for those of us who can’t get to Chicago. There will be more and I’m hoping you can participate down the line.
Have a good time this weekend.
I love flying. The TSA is another story.
Have a grand trip, though, Joe. It’s still safer than driving, and clouds really are pretty from the top.
Carolyn,
I understand. I wish you all the best with the virtual conference, I noticed you have quite a few participants signed up already (including Rick).
Maybe next time.
Hey Rick,
Thanks. I know the stats, but I would rather Drive than Fly.
Sorry we can’t meet for lunch, I was looking forward to that during the train trip.
I’d be more scared of US Air! Ha Ha! Did I say that! Wish I was going to be there!
c u there
Hey South Jersey,
Don’t scare me any more than I already am…
Hey Easton,
Not if I see you First.
See ya there.
