Working at Home on the Internet

Helping You Run an Internet Home Business

Interview: Wendy Piersall of eMoms at Home

wendypiersall.jpg Wendy Piersall of eMoms at Home is a Work at Home Mom who has a lot more to offer than what you might see at first glance, before you get to know her. She is a very successful Internet Entrepreneur and Business Person, an Accomplished Speaker and an Inspiration for anyone who has aspirations of Making a Living on the Internet.

So, without further adieu, here’s Wendy’s Interview…

MeWhat was the major factor in the decision for you to become an e-Mom?

Wendy… Well, first and foremost, it was a desire to be with my kids more often and get more work life balance. But secondly, I’m such a stereotypical A.D.D. entrepreneur, I get bored awfully quickly in a regular “job”.

MeCould you give us an idea of what your typical day is like?

Wendy… Morning is up and getting the kids to school. Then I work all day blogging and marketing my sites. I pick up the kids from school in the afternoon, and if it’s nice out, we’ll walk. Then I’m back on the computer until dinner time. I try to make sure we get family time in the evening, but lately I’ve been knee deep in some big projects. But no matter what, after the kids are asleep I’m back on the computer for a couple of hours before I go to bed!

MeDo you have separate office space in the house, or is it shared with the family?

Wendy… I have a separate office space, which certainly makes work more productive. But sometimes I move around with my laptop for a change of scenery.

MeYou have been blogging for a while now, do you think it helps you with your daily WAHM life?

Wendy… It helps because I would be a claustrophobic mess if I didn’t have the internet and blogging community to visit every day. If I wasn’t blogging, I don’t think I could handle the loneliness of working at home I’m such a social person both online and offline! I think a lot of moms want to work at home, but realize that it can be quite isolating. So I always recommend that any work at home endeavors are balanced with lots of adult time. I could go on and on about blogging, though. Most of my writing is dedicated to the craft.

MeHow do you find time to devote to writing articles for eMoms at Home and the other projects you have going?

Wendy… Since my kids are mostly in school, and this is my full time business, it’s pretty easy to find the time! But I don’t know how part-time bloggers pull it off blogging is a time consuming job!

MeWhat do you do when you need a break from the daily routine or to just get away?

Wendy… It’s easier in the summer time, because we have a boat and are close to the Fox River west of Chicago. This may sound funny, but I find that some of my BEST business ideas come to me while I am cleaning! So even though I really dislike cleaning, I will break from work and go clean to clear my head and let my brain work through ideas.

MeCould you give us an example of the advantages of Working at Home? Any drawbacks?

Wendy… Too much to write about here. But I have a few articles that answer this question perfectly!

10 Signs that You are Ready to Start a Home Based Business
Top Ten Key Success Ingredients for Home Based Businesses

MeOk, Wendy last question. Do you have any special advice for other eMoms (and eDads)?

WendyJUMP IN. I used to be a single mom living off of food stamps in my parent’s basement when I started my first home business. You don’t need a great degree or an established career to work from home. You just need to follow your heart and do what it takes to succeed (and learn as much as you can as fast as you can along the way!).

Wendy, Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview. I know it will be very helpful to my readers since I don’t really write too much about eMoms and WHAMs. (I have no personal experience being a mom) It has certainly given me some insight into the Working Life of the Premier eMom.

If you would like to find out more about Wendy Piersall and being an eMom (read Entrepreneur), go visit her at eMoms at Home. I know she would like to see you there and have you join in the conversation.

Wendy will be one of the Featured Speakers at SOBCon 07 in Chicago May 11-12.
