Pre-Posting can be a great asset, especially if you are the sole writer/publisher/editor of a Blog. If something pressing needs immediate attention, having something ready for publishing is a distinct advantage.
Posts don’t have to be set to publish on a specific date at a particular time, but if you have a draft of a post there is a good place to start. A couple of tweaks and edits, publish, done. Back to taking care of business.
Â
Some more reasons to Pre-Post
~~ If something important comes up (like a family emergency), you don’t have to think about what to write, you are ready. It can be extremely difficult to think straight during times of stress.
~~ Not having to worry about what you are going to post and looking for something up until the last minute. If you have something, even partially ready, you’re ahead in the game.
~~ The time of day does, for the most part, make a difference. If you pre-post, you can determine what time to have it “go offâ€. (my best time is 6-7am EST)
~~ When you write something, there may be some tweaks you want to make. This gives you time to think about it, make adjustments and present something of which you can be proud.
~~ If something comes up that is time sensitive, you can determine what posts to move to a new date and how they fit in to the schedule which provides you the flexibility you need.
~~ If you have more than one Blog or other commitments, it makes it easier to adjust your time and efforts to what is most pressing. It allows you to adjust your plan of attack for each project.

Some of you may have noticed this is similar to another post I wrote a while ago. Two reasons: 1. It fits in with the Blogging Tips Series. 2. I’m dealing with a family emergency. So, I’m using most of my Pre-Posts up at this point. When things settle down a little, I’ll set to rebuilding my arsenal of posts.

Do you plan posts ahead of time? Does it make a difference to you in the structure of your day? Are there reasons I missed for pre-posting?
