I asked for some reader questions in order to better serve visitors and regular readers in things they would like me to cover. The response has been better than I expected. So, it is time for another Reader Question, this is also by Carolyn Manning from Thoughts and Philosophies.
If you want to be a pen for hire, how do you think you’d effectively get clients?
Some of the best ways I know to prepare for Freelance Writing Projects are:
Publish Articles containing your own work on your Blog. This will give you a base to use as samples and references for any projects you might want to apply for.Â
Participate in Carnivals that are related to the Topic/Niche of your Blog. There are a lot of people looking for good writers and quite often they will look to Group Projects like Carnivals in a particular niche.
Start a Carnival on your Topic (I know you already started). This not only exposes your site as a place to find information, but also as an “expert” in the field.
Send articles to some Article Submission Sites. Every Submission Site welcomes new posts and articles. They also have RSS (news feeds) to their articles which will expose you to Their Subscribers.
Above all Continue writing on your Blog and Good things will Happen in time.
Of course there are may other ways to prepare, but writers have good imaginations so the “sky is the limit“. Get your work out there.
Once you have a Good Base, I would suggest trying any of these services as potential ways to find a “Freelance Gig” (None are affiliates). Most are paid for by the company, but not all.
Freelance Work Exchange
These are just some starting points for the “Pen for Hire”. It will take a great deal of dedication on your part to succeed in any Freelance Opportunity. There are a lot of opportunities for writers listed with these services. There may even be one that fits Your Situation.
The main thing is keep writing. As the saying goes, “Build it and they will comeâ€.
