Duncan Riley Leaves b5media

talkingballoons.jpg

I know most of you know who Duncan Riley is, right?

He is the guy who Founded, Edited, Wrote and Maintained The Blog Herald since the beginning. He is also one of the Founding Fathers of b5media.

Last year he sold The Blog Herald to b5media *BlogMedia Inc for what I consider very little money for such a valuable property, and became the VP of Development/Operations at b5.

Well Duncan has LEFT b5media.

No word from Duncan on his personal blog, but he mentions that wounds in his back were twitching. I don’t know if it’s from his long plane ride from Hong Kong to Toronto, or something else. Either way, it doesn’t sound like his stay in Toronto was pleasant.

The only mention from b5 is So Long and Good Luck on their blog.

I have followed Duncan ever since I first saw a link to him on ProBlogger over a year ago. I always liked his style, a little bit naughty, a little bit nice and always a good read. I can’t pretend to know Duncan personally, but if you can learn about a person through their writing, the he is the type of person I would like to meet.

I don’t have any idea what caused the split. Frankly, I was a little surprised that he stuck around after the sale. I hope he was compensated well for his contributions to b5 upon his departure.

I just want to wish Duncan Good Luck in his future endeavours, and to let him know that he has at least one loyal reader in me.

*Thanks to Shai Coggins for correcting me.

I’m really glad you talked about who he is after that because honestly the only answer I had to your question was “no”. But then again I never claimed to be most.

      Hey Carter,

I realized there are a lot of people who don’t know Duncan, so I thought I’d give an idea of who and what he means to the blogosphere.

He seems to be one of the more opinionated and upfront Bloggers I know. That is why I like to read his stuff so much, he’s honest…

Hi, Joe. I’m sure Duncan will appreciate your kind words.

Also, just for the record: Duncan didn’t sell The Blog Herald to b5media. It was actually part of b5 (as he is a founding member and part owner). He later sold it outside of b5, to another blog network.

      Hey Shai,

I stand corrected. I think it was to Blog Media Inc? Right?
Sorry for the mistake, do you think I should change it in the article?
