Did you notice the Category List in the Sidebar?
Yes, I have it in Alphabetical Order. Just another in the growing list of fixes I worked out to tweak the Original Theme (Andreas04 2.0) to my liking.
I never really liked the fact that as I added something to the Category List, it ended up at the bottom because it was newer than previous listings. Hence, I had things so mixed up that even I had to look to find them.
This is the simple fix to Alphabetize the Category List:
Look in the Sidebar php for the code under
h2 categories /h2
ul class=”sellLi”
You will see this bit of code
?php wp_list_cats (”); ?
Replace it with
?php list_cats(0, ”, ‘name’, ‘ASC’, ‘/’, true, 0, 0); ?
Don’t forget to place the “less than” and “greater than” signs before and after the ?’s
I really do like this Theme, but as with any other, it needs tweaking to get it the way you want it. (One day I will figure out how to present the code so it can be copied directly).

Joe .. You sound like you’ve been playing with the various options and permutations .. I would like to set up one page for each category I have over at PetLvr .. can you help me with the code? I want to pick 1 specific category, and get output of the entries in alphabetical order, that lists the date next to it. Do you think this is possible? I’ve practically given up. Although, I figured out how to get a feed of the categories and work around it, I’d rather not.

Hey HART,
).
Sorry, I don’t think I can help with your problem. Most of the things I have found out were through trial and error (mostly errors
I think what you want would require quite a bit of code changes to have each page (category) alphabetized. I know you can put subcategories within a parent cat in the write posts, but when I tried that, they came up as individual cats.
Other than that, I have no idea, sorry.

Thanks for trying
It’s a difficult task, but I’ve got to come up with some way to better showcase these 2400 posts in that blog. Maybe the best of the best or something like that might be the way, with copy/post from the MANAGE screen and just spending the time looking at all the posts over again and again. // HART

HART,
Let me know if you find a nice easy way, maybe a plugin or something. I don’t know how you keep track of 2400 posts. I’m just closing in on 500 and I have a hard time going through them, that’s probably why I haven’t tried anything other than straight cats.
I am always looking for useful programs, code fixes and plugins. If I come up with anything similar, I’ll Let You Know.

Hey HART,
I just saw this over at ProBlogger’s speedlinks. Batch Categories http://robm.me.uk/projects/plugins/wordpress/batch-categories/
Maybe this will help in what you’re trying to do.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking! But, I think this plugin is more or less for those wanting to rename categories. I just want one page of links for i.e. pet travel tips or a specific category that I think is important. If you browse by category, the best you can do is get the 5 or so links per page with most of the text, and have to page next, and next and next and you still never know if you’ll find something useful. Especially on my bigger categories.
Now .. I’m off on a new project trying to figure out how to PHP INCLUDE a file from another domain altogether. IT seems that servers don’t do that. So.. I’ve been playing with the AdRotator plugin trying to stop the rotating.. (I’m finding that I probably shouldn’t be doing this myself and need a course in PHP actually)

HART,
I didn’t check too far into what it’s function is, but thought it was worth a try.
Did you try copying the page php into the sidebar and use it as a link page as I did with the featured home business page?
Don’t know if it will work, but it’s better than filling up the Header with pages.
I haven’t tried that ad rotator yet, I thought about it, but if it’s that much of a problem I probably won’t do it.
As far as the PHP INCLUDE, no servers don’t play well together.

Oh, and what do you think of my new Footer? Pretty neat, huh?

I haven’t really played with the theme as version 4 will be coming out soon with a new look. Actually, that’s why I’ve been trying to houseclean and make that blog more presentable. It does well on search engines, but if you just came by it’s hard to realize how much crap I MEAN great content there is in there
Footer is ‘ok’ .. I know you spent a lot of work on it, as I read it here in your blog! You probably don’t need the duplicate search below, and if the ranking section were like tabled into two columns, that whole footer might fit in one window view. For me, It’s about 1-1/4 window views with IE7. The gradient and all that is slick!

HART,
If it does well in SE’s that’s the main thing. With so much content it just gets more difficult to present all of it in a way that’s easy to navigate.
Maybe the new version of the theme has something to solve the problem
As far as the search in the Footer, that’s T-rati’s the one above is Google. And I can’t figure out for the life of me how to split the section any further.
Blog catalog center’s itself no matter what I do.
Can’t get it to cooperate with what I want. I may just take it out, but what’s the point of having a ranking cat if I can’t show the rank?
I’ll keep working on it til it’s the way I like it.
Yeah, the gradient is the cool part, huh?
