Blog-Tipping VI

blogtipping.jpg

Easton Ellsworth of Business BlogWire started a thing called Blog-Tipping a couple of months ago. On the first of each month, we should pick three Bloggers we read and give them three compliments and a helpful tip. Since I think it is such a great idea, I thought I would try my hand at it another time (This is becoming a good habit).

So, for This Months Blog-Tipping Event:

Escape from Cubicle Nation by Pamela Slim…

1. Your articles are always helpful, especially for someone trying to make the transition from the Corporate World to the Life of being Self-Employed.

2. The Blog has a nice clean look. The colors are easy on the eyes and navigation, contact and Subscriptions are made easy to access.

3. Your writing is easy to read and is understandable to the novice and seasoned entrepreneur alike. You give a personal connection to every article.

Tip: Use the “more” function on the longer articles. That way you can show more of your work on the landing page.

Work at Home Blog by Angela…

1. You give really good insight into the world of a Work at Home Mom using the Internet as a source of income.

2. Experimentation with new and unique things to see what works for you and sharing the results with your readers, good or bad is one of your Blogs best features.

3. The look is clean and neat. The content is the primary feature, and you make subscription very easy.

Tip: Watch the instances of Google Ads, that could come back to haunt you.

Ramblings from a Glass Half Full by Starbucker…

1. Terry has a special way of looking at things and it shows in all of his posts. (Glass Half Full)

2. When he does a Book review, which he does often, I sometimes want to go out to buy the book.

3. Since he travels often in his job, Starbucker takes us on very descriptive journeys with him and you almost feel as if you are there with him.

Tip: What’s stopping you? Make the transition to WP already.

I think this is a worthwhile project and hope you try your hand at Tipping a Blog(ger) next month. My plan is to continue this project monthly because I like the whole idea of being helpful to other Bloggers and sharing the Link Leak Virus in this way as well.

Have you Tipped a Blog lately? Who was it? How did it make you feel?

Thanks Joe for your kind words – I’ve always appreciated your support and friendship, and one day I will get out of Blogger…..if I can find the time. Is it painless? Any chance you could do it for me? :-)

      All the best!

      Hey Starbucker,

No problem. Actually, it is pretty easy, the hardest part is finding the time.

I probably could do it for you, all you need is your own domain (which you have) and a hosting service.

I think all the steps are in my archives, you could just follow them, and ask questions if there are any.

Let me know when you’re ready, and I’ll give you all the help you need. ;-)

      Hi Joe!

Thank you so much for your very kind words! I really appreciate it and it was very unexpected. I didn’t know about blog tipping … great idea, and I will start to do it next month!

My tip is a good one. I have gone back and forth with truncating articles and having people click on the “more” link. Sometimes as a reader, I just want to read the whole thing without an extra click. But maybe I am tranposing my own preferences on my readers. I’ll try it!

Keep up the good work and thanks again for the support.

      All the best,
      -Pam

      Hey Pam,

It’s easy to say nice things about such a good writer, you deserve every word.

As far as the “more”, as I said, you can get more of that great work on the front page. And a side benefit is the page will load faster.

Keep writing, I’ll keep reading. :-)

      Hey Starbucker,

Any time you’re ready. The only reason I keep pushing it is it is so much easier to work with than Blogger.

I know because I had to do things over and over with B-ger just to get things to semi-work.

With WP, they make it easy as pie with plugins etc.

You won’t regret the move when you make it.

      Just let me know. :-)

      Joe
