The First Argument… It’s Her Shop

frown.jpg

Today is Monday. The contractors started working on the basement for the new shop this past Wednesday.

The rip-out didn’t take much time, less than a day. The balance of the day was running wires and putting up temporary lighting. Then they started on the construction part. Putting up insulation, dry wall and ceiling. The plumber was to come in later to start with piping, sink and redoing the powder room.

That’s when the argument started. Not between the contractors and us. But between K and I.

Since the dry wall was up the plumber wanted to take the easy way out and run the piping on the outside of the wall. K just agreed with it. The main contractor said he could just cut the wall to allow for the pipes. Once they were done, he would just replace the portion that was missing.

I mentioned to K that she should just get it done right the first time, even though it may take a little more time. She said she was worried that the contractor would charge more for the additional work. I told her that if they did it right the first time, it wouldn’t be a concern, especially with the amount they are charging to begin with.

Still, she said that she did’t want to spend the time having it redone. And that it was HER Business and money and I shouldn’t get involved.

That was over the weekend, and I haven’t said a word to her about anything that is being done, or not done. The pipes are on the outside of the wall, and it looks like hell in my opinion, but it’s her shop.

Today, she has the electrician putting in the permanent lighting, and she is putting primer on the walls. By Herself. It’s her shop, and I don’t intend to lift a finger to help without being asked.

At least she might get the painting done before the new floor is laid.

Stay tuned…

Help Me Pick a Post for the Bring a Link Event

     ist2_881587_billboard_here_for_you.jpg

I am sure more than a few of you are aware of the Challenge that Liz is having over at Successful Blog for the Birthday Bash on Open Mic Day on Tuesday (that’s right, it’s not just limited to a few night-time hours this week).  Well, she wants us to bring our Most Successful Post to the party.

I bring this up for two reasons.  One is to invite you to join in and have some fun.  The other is to ask you what you think (in your opinion) was My Most Successful post.

To me, you as the reader should be able to tell me what you think was worth reading and why you think it should be considered successful.  No special criteria, just what you think.  You don’t even have to look it up, just tell me what it was about and I’ll find it.

I know it’s short notice, but after going through my archives, I couldn’t come up with just one.  After all, I wrote them and I am more than a little biased.
