How to Lose a Visitor Before They Become a Reader

When is Enough, Too Much?

As most of you know, I do a lot of research on Working at Home trying to find things that work for me and try to pass the information along to you. Hopefully, I am a little successful in bringing you Good Information.

I came across a site today that turned me Off so much that I couldn’t even read the article I visited the site for originally. I won’t mention the site, mostly because it took me a long time to find the Title for all the ADS.

I have written about Ad placement, as have many others. I even showed the Graphic from Google (above) showing the Hot Spots and what seems to work the best. But what I saw was actually laughable.

This particular Blog had an ad in every Hot Spot and a few of the Cooler Spots, and even some of the Spots that were Below Freezing. I understand the need to use advertisements for income and support of the site, but at least allow people to see the Name of the Blog without being slammed in the face by Flashing Banners.

I know there is a limit of three (3) units for AdSense. All three were used before the first paragraph was finished. This is not to say anything about the 728x Amazon Ad or the Affiliate for the Finance Service in the Header. And it was just more of the same in the Sidebar and the Footer.

Sorry for the tirade, but I believe that the main purpose of a Blog or Wesbsite is to disseminate information. That is why people come to a site. They are looking for information or advice or something in particular, Not to have unrelated ads glaring at them for dieting (remember I was looking for WAH info).

So, my advice is that even though we are all trying to make some money online, we should think of our readers first. Provide information that is useful and informative and they will return.  Don’t insult them by slamming them with advertisements in the hope they will click something. They will never return. I know I won’t ever go back to that site.

And you know what? I never read the article.
