Happy Blog B-day to Me

birthday.jpg

I don’t know how I missed it. I knew it was coming. I was expecting it. I even thought I knew the date. It’s almost like forgetting your Wedding Anniversary.

My Blog had a Birthday without me.

It was born Self Improvement by Working at Home, in the blogger.com hospital at 4:22 pm on October 5, 2005. It’s first words were:

There is a way to improve yourself, Work online, Make money, Find the Freedom you want
If you work on a computer & have access to the internet, Contact me by Clicking on one of the
links below…

It was so cute and cuddly, so naive, it didn’t even know it could have a Title or Pictures in the early days. So I taught it about some of the basic steps like Linking, using Titles and adding Pictures to it’s posts to enhance it’s looks. I changed Self Improvements name to Working at Home on the Internet as an eary Christmas present on December 21. It had been bugging about it for weeks, saying the name didn’t fit it’s purpose.

It grew up a lot in the ensuing months and found some new friends on the internet, it started wandering into the Blogosphere on it’s own. Eventually, it came to me and said:

I have broken… I have given up on Blogger…

I bought a Domain http://workingathomeinternet.com

It is Hosted on BlueHost…

I Downloaded Wordpress…

That was back on June 23, 2006. That’s when I realized my little Bloggy Blog had grown into a real Blog with a purpose. To try to help others trying to start an Online Business from their Own Homes.

He (yes, I’m calling him he now) has grown a lot in the past year. From a know nothing novice, to an aspiring actor on the great stage of the Blogosphere. I’m so proud. He keeps getting Linked to, and is increasing Pageviews, not to mention that his RSS subscriptions are going up and up. I hope to keep his feet on the ground by keeping a close eye on his progress and advising him in how mature gracefully.

Liz and cat are having B-days for their Blogs this month too. We are in the planning stages of a Big Celebration to… well… Celebrate.

If your Blog is having a B-day this month, let me know and we’ll try to include you in the celebration.

Update: I have started a Carnival called my blog’s d-day carnival. It will run on the Last Day of Each Month. So, if you would like to Celebrate your Blogs B-Day along with others any month, join in. This month’s will run on October 31.

Thanks, I’m sure it (he) will make sure the candle goes out the first time, after all it is only one.

      Hi Joe,

Such a nice idea to tell a birthday story. My guess is that he’ll be around for many more.
