Am I linking to other sites too much?
I really don’t want to turn this into a link-blog. Everything I try to present is somehow related to Working at Home, Internet Business, Programs that can be used by people starting their own businesses. Sometimes I think that I am linking more than writing.
I preach about writing good content then find myself involved in different projects that can only be presented by linking. I do write some things that require a link to the original source or some type of referral for additional information to the topic.
Every Sunday for the past 20 some weeks I have presented the Weekly Helpful Reads post. Each one is written by someone I feel has made a good point or would be an advantage to any home business owner. But recently I have been participating in writing projects that are good for my numbers, if one-offs is what I really want.
I do get hits from those projects on the original post and get subsequent views and links from other participants. Then I try to find links that are relevant to the overall topic of working at home and link to them.
I think the community effort is a really good thing. It helps me, other bloggers and brings blogs to my attention I might never have seen otherwise. But, is it link baiting, or just participation?
I guess it really depends on the motive for doing the linking. I don’t think linking for the sake of linking to boost your own numbers is a good thing. I do think that linking as part of a project or to add value to a post is.
If you are as confused by this post as I am, raise your hand. Do you think I use too many links? Are the links I use relevant to my site?
