Working at Home on the Internet

Helping You Run an Internet Home Business

Too Much On My Plate?

How do you know when you have taken on too much in a Home Business?

I don’t really know, but I am finding out the hard way. Way back in October 2005, I started Working at Home on the Internet (at the time Self Improvement by Working at Home) as a springboard for an affiliate program I picked up trying to make some money at home on my computer. I got lots of clicks, but no money.

As I started to research other options, I started to read a LOT of other Blogs, most of which can be found in the Links portion of the sidebar. Through them I found a lot of good information on revenue resources such as, AdSense, ClickBank, Chitika et al. Really, the only one I have ever made anything from is AdSense. Of course, I got clicks on the others, but never anything worth writing home about.

During this period, I saw some articles about Google and the US Government, Net Neutrality and started writing about them. Unfortunately, that was…the main topic of this Blog for a while, so I started my World Politics and the Internet Blog. I didn’t want to mix my political views with the Main Topic of Working at Home on the Internet.

I kept this up for a couple of months and still wasn’t making enough to live on, so I got the bright idea of starting a Blog called Joe’s Freeware Finds. I figured it took me a long time to find all the programs and services I use on a daily basis, so I could make that into something that people would visit and of course make something from it.

Through all of this I had created and tried to maintain the Working at Home on the Internet WebPage. Hardly any of which was original, most was some variation of the Blog Posts, but I did get a fair amount of traffic. Not to mention the Archive Blog which contained a lot of the (…more) portions of the articles so as to not use too much bandwidth.

Then, since I had always had short stories in my blood, I decided to start the Short Stories Seeping From Somewhere Blog. I did write a few really dumb stories for it and couldn’t think of anything else to write about. I guess my blood was thinner that I thought on ideas…

This is not to mention all of the offline work involved as well as research to maintain each site.

The whole point of telling you all of this is that since I have added each new aspect to my Home Business, I have been very enthusiastic. Knowing I was making the right decisions. Thinking I could keep up with everything. They were All Great Ideas.

I never really looked at the whole picture of what was necessary to maintain Each Site. Everything it takes to maintain One Good Informative Site, it takes for EACH ONE I Started. So in trying to do a good job on all of the sites, I have make the mistake that is often repeated by many… I bit off more than I could chew.

I have neglected all of the sites with equal abandon. I do a little here and a little there, but never enough to keep up the quailty on any of them. I research and save information , but rarely do anything with it.

Therefore, I make a pledge to you and to myself. I will make this Blog my main priority and provide as much good and timely information about Working at Home on the Internet as possible.

Joe

I will keep the other sites going, but more as gravy, than the main course. What good is gravy without the biscuits?
