Hey Rick,

Yeah, since I rearranged my archives into categories, I seem to be getting some comments on the older posts. ;-)

I have had spam assassin for a while now and I'm quite satisfied with it.

I am going to look into a plugin for a contact form to help with spam. The email I'm using now is hosted on my server as well. It's working fine for now, but I'm always looking to improve protection.

Hi Joe,

I was going through your rant archive and found this. See. Comments do come in on old posts.

I have spam assassin on my server. It gets rid of the vast majority of my spam, dumping it straight to the bit bucket. On my main website the user can go to my contact page and click to email me, but the link is to a javascript that is hosted on my server so a scraper can't pick it up. On my blog I use WP-ContactForm by Ryan Duff for email. I get 4 - 5 spams a day total in my inbox. I can deal with that.

Hey Chris,
I have started using SpamAssassin and so far, it seems to be catching almost all of the spam I was getting.
Hey Maria,
I really would rather use the live link to make it easier (one step) to contact me.
BUT, I will keep Both Options Open, just in case...
Thanks to the Both of You.
Joe
PS Liz's Open Comment Night is coming to my hometown tonight, I hope to see you here.

Instead of creating a live link of your email address, I would suggest "encrypting" your email address. Simply display your address like this "yourname [at] domain.com" Readers can just manually enter your address into their email program. I did this with all my blogs and spam is nearly eliminated!
